Gordon McArthur is a professional ice climber, author, entrepreneur, and lifelong pursuer of what he calls “our absolute.” A North American Champion and World Cup finalist, Gordon has represented Canada on the international stage, including ice climbing’s showcase at the Sochi Olympics, while also establishing and climbing some of the hardest ice and mixed routes in the world. But his story reaches far beyond climbing. Gordon is the author of Throwing Hope, a deeply personal exploration of success, failure, trauma, grief, family, perseverance, and the pursuit of purpose. He is also the owner of Arq Mountain Centre, where he has built a community around movement, mentorship, and belonging. Through climbing, writing, business, and speaking, Gordon encourages others to push beyond perceived limitations, walk toward difficult things, and ultimately seek their own absolute.
